Actress and screenwriter (Manchester, United Kingdom, 7.9.1984)
Yusra Warsama is a British film, theater and TV actress and a writer of Somali of Somali origin. She started her career at The Contact Theatre in Manchester and after that played in many theatrical productions, collaborating with artists and company of international importance.
Her first relevant role in a movie was that of Sonya in the critically acclaimed British drama My Brother the Devil, directed by Sally El Hosaini and premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January 2012. She played in a few other films such as Last Days on Mars (Ruairi Robinson, 2013) and The Journey Is the Destination (Bronwen Hughes, 2016) and in several TV series as Postcode, Dracula, Our Girl, Call the Midwife (BBC), Mogadishu Minnesota (HBO).
In Italy she was chosen by the director Andrea Segre to feature in the role of Somali refugee Suada, for his third film, the Italian-French co-production L’ordine delle cose (The Order of Things, 2017), premiered at Venice Film Festival, in Venice Days section.
