Director, director of photography, camera operator, screenwriter and producer (Alexandria, Egypt, 4.4.1983)

Mohamed Hossameldin is an Italy-based Egyptian director. Born in Alexandria in 1983, Hossameldin moved to Rome, Italy when he was 8. Raised in Italy, he started to work as cameraman for Mediaset and Sky, realizing some shorts and documentaries. After that, the passion for movies drove him to enroll in Rome University of Fine Arts in 2011. In 2014 he got his degree with a graduate work entitled “The essence of cinema. How to become a filmmaker” and a degree mark of 110 with honors. Since then, he dedicate himself to film mostly as a director, but also as a director of photography and cameraman. His short Sotto terra, photographed by Daniele Ciprì, his teacher at RUFA, was selected to be showcased at Cannes Film Festival (Shorts Film Corner). Il passo (2017) was realized under the umbrella of Migranti Cinema project, supported by the Italian Ministery of Culture and produced by TV Loft, a society run by Italy-based Egytpian producer Sherif Fathy Salem. Yousef,  produced by Prem1ere and featured by Jean-Christophe Folly (La prima neve), was made as well as a Migrarti Cinema piece, to be premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2018: in 2019 Yousef received a nomination in the category Best short film at David di Donatello Awards. Together with Miriam Palmarella and Mario Russo, Hossameldin founded FlyCinema, an independent studio based in Rome. Currently he’s writing his first feature film.
