Elisa Kadigia Bove
Actress (Mogadishu, Somalia, 1942)
Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1942 of an Italian soldier and a Somali woman, from 1963 to 1967 she met some notoriety appearing with pet lion Kiko in a few series of TV commercials directed by Attilio Vassallo as Stella Atlantic for Atlantic household appliances company.
In 1967 she joined the Italian Communist Party and met Achille Occhetto, whom she later married. After attending Piccolo Teatro directed by Giorgio Strehler, she began a long career as an actress and vocalist, between theater, film and television. She performed as singer in many masterpieces by the Italian avant-garde composer Luigi Nono including A Floresta é Jovem e Cheja de Vida, Un volto del mare, Contrappunto dialettico alla mente, Y entonces Comprendió.
She debuted as an actress in the first feature film directed by Valentino Orsini. She later starred in some B-Movies in the late Sixties and Eighties, while her last role was in a comedy directed by Cristina Comencini. In I dannati della terra she was credited as Kadija Bove, in Il gatto selvaggio as Kadigia Bove, in Occhio malocchio prezzemolo e finocchio as Elisa Bove, in Matrimoni simply as Kadigia.
Besides cinematic work, she was also president of the Associazione Donne Immigrate Africane (ADIA), a non-profit organization serving African immigrant women in Italy.
