Born in Tunisia in 1959, Amel Ben Soltane started to establish a reputation as unit in makeup department in early 1980s in several film and TV foreign productions based in her original homeland, such as Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Pasquale Festa Campanile’s Il ladrone (1980) and Stuart Cooper’s A.D. (1985). After that she moved to Italy, acquired Italian citizenship and integrated into local film and TV industry, working in dozens of productions for the big and the small screen, directed, among others, by Lina Wertmüller, Carlo Vanzina, Carlo Virzì, Guido Chiesa, Paolo Sorrentino.  It is worth mentioning her collaboration with Alberto Sironi for many episodes in the successful TV series Il commissario Montalbano. A Candidate in 2010 to David di Donatello Award as best makeup artist for L’uomo che verrà by Giorgio Diritti, after that she became member of the Academy of Italian Cinema that each year assigns David di Donatello Awards to Italian films.
